Construction Management Services

Summit Consulting Services has built a solid reputation for managing all aspects of construction in remote Alaskan locations. The cornerstone of the company's experience starts with Dave Cramer, president, who has lived and worked in rural Alaska for over 30 years. Dave has brought together a talented team of individuals who work together to take construction projects from concept to completion.

The depth of construction experience within the Summit team is an important benefit to our clients. Whether the challenge is procuring heavy equipment by public bid and mobilizing it to a remote coastal village on the first spring barge or training local labor for a specialized task, Summit has done it.

Project construction in bush Alaska poses frequent and significant challenges, and the potential for cost and schedule overruns is very high in almost every instance. With remote design and construction as our business, Summit has developed aggressive, proven methods to successfully execute each project with a minimum of delays and setbacks. Our primary focus is communities accessed only by air and water. We mobilize under the constraints of the short Alaska summers, air-freight-only winters, limited barging options with tight sailing schedules, and relatively few commercial aircraft available that accommodate bulky, heavy freight. Project planning, all phases of design, project closeout, and training, are informed by our solid design and construction experience throughout Alaska. We know how to apply our experience to each new project. Summit Consulting Services has completed many force account projects in cooperation with Village Safe Water and the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC). On these projects the local entity (the city, or tribal organization) is the project owner and Summit manages the construction which includes procuring the equipment and supplies, transporting the materials to the community job site, providing a superintendent, supporting and documenting the construction, and accounting for all project funds.
